My blessed life.

As I was driving home last night (after having left work an hour early due to a maniac baby) I passed a semi.  Right as I pulled up to the center of it, there was a loud explosion-like sound by my ear.  My heart jumped in my throat, but I never did see what caused it.  It was extraordinarily loud - maybe the load shifted, maybe the truck backfired.  Whatever it was, it made me realize once again how fragile life is.  The truck could have been thrown enough off balance that we could have been in a wreck, and Izzy could have lost his mom.  Every day is filled with a multitude of blessings that keep us alive.

Izzy went down last night at about 9:30, and didn't make a sound all night!  I find it hard to believe that taking away that nap has had such amazing results.  But we're all sleeping through the night again.  Now, that's a blessing.

I have to share with you all something that happened to my dad yesterday.  He was driving on the interstate during our torrential rainstorm, when all of a sudden the standing water in the road shot up about 20 feet in the air and he sees a red minivan spiral up in the air, about 5 feet high, spin around three or four times, then crash back down in an upright position.  The first car to reach the wreck drove past, but he was next and he ran up to the van.  The driver was a woman and she was sitting perfectly still, staring out the window, not moving, not blinking, with blood all over her.  Dad said it scared him to death for he truly thought she was dead.  Not knowing exactly what to say, he says, "Are you okay?!" The lady then notices him, and says, "I don't know."  Apparently she was in shock.  Dad said about 10 cars stopped behind him, including a woman who pulled on rubber gloves and started asking her medical questions.  Dad helped a couple of the other guys pick up her money and pocketbook and put back in the van, then he left since she was in good hands.  He said the scariest part was that everything in her van had flown out the broken windows and there  was a baby seat and other baby things all over the road.  As soon as she answered him, his next question was, "Who else is with you? Is there a baby?"  Thankfully, she was by herself.  Can you imagine the horror of being in a wreck like that??  Dad said just watching it happen nearly caused him to have a heart attack.  That woman is very, very lucky.  As a matter of fact, she was blessed.
