Last night I found a great bargain on summer baby clothes - each piece clearanced for only $1.00. I bought Izzy a ton of it, plus a bunch for next year, too. He's tall and thin, so I bought 24 month shirts, and 12 month shorts...in fact, 9 month shorts would actually fit him better, but for $1.00 they can be a little baggy. We're not sure where this tiny waist comes from, but we're hoping it sticks.
When I got home, I pulled the tags and stickers off the clothes as I showed off my bargain hunting prowess to Chris, and I tossed them in a little pile in the floor. Before I could gather them up to be washed, Izzy was right in the middle of all of them. He cuddled an orange tank top, size 4T, against his cheek, then he gathered all the clothes his little hands could hold, and made a big pile of his new threads all around him. This apparently was exhausting, for he then laid down on the little nest and rested for a couple of minutes.
It's hard to describe how I felt watching him play. It was very cute, but then again, I think everything he does is pretty cute. But I wondered what he was thinking as he threw the clothes around the kitchen with adandon. Did he really like the orange shirt, or was he pretending to love it, like he loves his dolls? Who knows? I would love to be inside of his mind, to think like he thinks. I can only imagine him thinking, "I can make these people laugh at anything!" And there is definitely a little manipulation in him, because when he's being naughty and we tell him to stop, he'll look up at us with his breath-taking little smile, and he'll look so innocent. He's so hard-headed. Mom most assuredly got her wish that I would have a child just like me. What she didn't think through, however, is that she would be his babysitter! ;-)
