At this stage in my pregnancy, moments of mommy nirvana are few and far between. I'm too tired and too irritable to be appreciative of most anything. But yesterday, I was downstairs in the sunroom playing with Izzy, at his beckoning, and it was wonderful.
Here's the scene: Gammie is sitting on top of the purple chair, chewing a rawhide. Deltie is in the seat of the same chair, doing the same as her sister. We stacked up the red furniture that we're giving away, and I put a toy on top of the pile for the cat, and he's sitting up there, batting away at it. Izzy is playing contentedly, bouncing from one toy to another, with such a happy look on his sweet face. I'm sitting with my pants pulled below my belly, watching the baby kick and squirm under my skin while the sun is streaming in, warming the cool room.
We were all so comfortable, so happy. I'd never go back to work if it was always like this.
