Quick Update

First off, let me give a big shout out to my hubby. Thanks, darlin', for taking care of me for the last three weeks. Chris was by my side for every sordid step - and he continues to clean my wound twice a day. He's doing things that he DID NOT sign up for, and I'm so appreciative. Embarrassed as hell, but very appreciative. I truly couldn't have made it through all this without him.

While I'm handing out thank-you's, I have to thank my family. My mom and dad kept Izzy for the first four days we had Sophie, then for the six days of our return trip. They also took care of our dogs and cat, did housework, mowed the grass, etc., etc. My sisters pitched in too, and I'm sure they all did things I can't remember. My mind is full of holes now. Damn, but that was some good pain meds.

Things are getting a little more normal this week. As normal as life can be when your stomach is abnormally enlarged, your energy level is near zero, and the amount of sleep you get rivals the sleep deprivation of tortured prisoners. My mom baby-sat me and the kids Monday, Crystal did today, and Micki will tomorrow. Then I'm on my own. After three weeks of depending on someone else, that will surely be a shock. But I know that I have numerous family members all within 10 minutes of me, who would be happy to help. That's what is so great about having family live close by. But that's an argument I'll continue to have off my blog. :-)

Final update - this new little child of mine is simply exquisite. Her olive skin is so sweet and soft, her downy hair is dark, and her long little body is perfect. Her expression is so serene, so cheerful, and I refuse to believe that her smiles are involuntary. She is so everything wonderful. I am amazingly in love with this beautiful creature, and so happy with my perfect little family. Life is soooooo good.
