My first baby is now TWO!

Izzy turned two on Friday. I can not believe it's been two years already! I know, I know, I keep saying that, but seriously - shouldn't I be better at this by now if it's really already been two years??

We started the day off with pictures - went terrible. Izzy decided to develop a shy streak right at picture time, and every time the lousy photographer was able to get a smile, his hand shot up to cover it! Cute, yes, but not when we're trying to get a picture. Then Sophie started fussing, and the whole shoot went downhill quickly. We ended up spending all of $8.99 for the momentous second year shots.

Then we headed to the pool - woo-hoo!!! Had a blast - everyone did. Who all went, you wonder? Well, me, Chris, Izzy, Sophie, my mom and dad, both of my sisters, my sister's two kids, Chris's brother and his wife and their three kids. In fact, everyone but his mom and dad. Mom stayed for about an hour or so and then she took Sophie and Noah, my 16 month old nephew, home out of the heat. Awesome fun. We went there for his birthday last year too - might have to make it a tradition.

Then we had the big Dora party!! Same people came, plus Chris's mom and dad and my Aunt Nancy. We ordered pizza and had chips and nuts and stuff, and I ordered a big Dora cake. Izzy had fun with this too, but I was a little retarded scheduling a toddler's birthday party for the evening and he got awfully tired, and thus fussy. Poor kid could not figure out why every gift he opened was immediately taken away.

I love doing things to make this kid happy, and it was awesome to spend the whole day pleasing him. He's a great kid. Funny as heck, loving, sweet, charming....if he's even half this sweet when he grows up, he's going to make some woman very lucky. Of course, I'll have to threaten her, a la my mother in law, to, and yes, I'm quoting, "wipe the floor up with you if you ever hurt my son."

At least now I understand where she's coming from. And I have the size to back that threat up. Future daughter-in-law, take this as your formal warning.
