Mom saves the day. No, not me.

What a day. I went to the gym and when we got home I went straight in to change Sophie. Izzy came running in shortly thereafter with a bottle of soy sauce, which he then proceeded to dump on a stool. I shooed him out, cleaned it up, then came out and cleaned the soy sauce from the hallway, living room, and dining room. Then I sit him on the potty and he pees. But since he likes his privacy to do the other, I tell him I'll go let the girl dogs out and I'll be right back. Less than five minutes later I'm back and he's still sitting there...surrounded by open bottles of witch hazel and peroxide. He had the alcohol in his hand, but hadn't got it open yet. For good measure, he'd also squirted the Tilex a couple of times.

I panic, of course, and my first thought is to call my mom. Mom rocks. She told me to call poison control, but I don't have that number (going to get it now!) so I called the pediatrician. They told me if I couldn't smell it on his breath then he likely didn't drink any. I had already tried this, and since I knew the bottles were less than half full and the floor was soaked, I felt pretty sure he hadn't drank any. But still...the kid is going to give me a heart attack.

Needless to add, the bottles are now stored on a high shelf in the linen closet, which is, not so incidentally, where my mom has always kept hers. She's now gone from saving my butt to saving my kid's butts too. She's a good mom.
