Today was such a good day with my Iz-man. He was so sweet and loving all day. Very few crazed lashing-outs or full blown meanness. But lots of really connecting with me and being delightful. And tonight was the icing on the cake.
He came in while I was putting Sophie in bed. We played in her closet for a while because he's big into finding "houses" for himself. Actually, that's really funny, because I still kind of do the same. ***I'M A GIANT FREAK ALERT*** I somehow keep finding places that I think would make great places to sleep if I were homeless. He also loves to eat hot peppers, cry out in pain, grab his milk, and do it all over again. He might look like his dad, but he's all me inside.
Anyways, I digress. After we got out of the closet, he sat down in the rocking chair in her nursery. He stretched his arms out, motioned with his hands for me to come over, and he said with a giant smile, "I rock mama!" My heart just melted. I VERY carefully sat down, for I am a very large woman, and he is but a toddler, and he wrapped his arms around me, leaned his head against me, and rocked. There are no words strong enough to convey how awesome this felt. How utterly and completely LOVED I felt. I hollered for Chris to come look, because, damn, it was just that sweet. He came in and Izzy was just beaming up at me, then he looked at his daddy and said, "I rock mama baby." Brought tears to my dry old eyes.
There is nothing so awesome as being a mom.
