I know, I know, I'm always talking about how funny Izzy is. But, seriously, this kid has a great sense of humor, whether intended or not.
For instance, the other evening Chris was putting Izzy to bed and he told him to go pick out a book for his bedtime story. Izzy said, "Get it yourself." Now, that's just plain hilarious.
When he wants something, he'll cock his head to the side, fold his hands together underneath his chin, stretch his eyes as wide as possible, and say, "Please, please, please??" So cute that it works just about every time.
He's a great little guy to have around. I can diffuse nearly any situation with him by cracking a joke. He laughs so easily, and he loves to make others laugh. And he's so very sweet.
Today I was trying to hurry and get ready before my mom got here to watch the kids while I went to exercise. So I put Sophie down in her crib. She was sleepy, I was busy, seemed like a good idea. But she didn't agree. I figured it wouldn't kill her to cry for the five minutes it took me to finish getting ready, so I ignored her. But Izzy runs in to her, calling, "I coming, baby!" I can only hope he'll continue to love her this much as they get older.
I really enjoy being with Izzy. (Sophie, too, but this post isn't about her.) Most of the time, I'd just as soon deal with his craziness rather than leave him with a sitter, and I take him with me everywhere I can. I really ENJOY being with him. It's not a chore or just a responsibility. We just have a good time. I feel so bad for those moms and dads who don't enjoy being parents.
I also feel so bad for the 12 miners who just died here in West Virginia. And for the thirteenth who is struggling to live. Keep their families, and the critical miner, in your thoughts, prayers, whatever. There aren't a lot of jobs in this state, and mining is often the only opportunity these guys have. Just a tragic situation all around.
