Yep. She not only learned how to climb up on the couch by herself, she immediately climbed right on top of the back and stood up in the window. My life suddenly became more challenging. As did Izzy's today when she learned which buttons turns off the cartoons. But I digress...
We had a cookout at mom's on Sunday. The food was fab-o, as was the company. Sophie ate a clover that Aunt Crystal was unable to retrieve.

Then today Crystal invited us over to mom's again, to have pizza before she went back. It's been ungodly hot out, so let the water games begin!

I don't know who was having more fun here! I also talked Dad into blowing up a kiddie pool and filling it up with a few inches of water for me and the kids. It was awesome. I told Dad that even though I was only sitting in a tiny bit of water, I was having the time of my life. Cool water, hot sun shining down on me, and my warm little babies splashing away. Sophie kept taking a break to come give a cool little hug.

See my foot? I love summer. At least I do when I'm not working. I hated it most of the time when I was working, actually. Nylons, hairspray, skirts, heels...these are just a few of the accroutements of a career woman that I do not miss, especially in the hot summer. I felt a near-physical pull to the swimming pool when I was cloistered in my office till 4:30 p.m. every day. Now, my plans for the summer are to talk dad into putting up the 40" deep wading pool, get up and go exercise first thing in the morning, then head to mom's to spend the day in the pool. Doesn't that sound awesome?
There are a lot of times when being a SAHM weighs heavily upon me. Summertime isn't one of them!! But for those of you stuck indoors today while you're reading this, I leave you this picture of a rose from my parents yard. It smells just as lovely as it looks, and I hope it brings a little of summer into your cubicle:

Grrrrrrr......said as I am stuck in front of my computer.....
So, I didn't even realize you took that picture of Sophie and me. I guess the clover must not have hurt; she's still alive and kicking, right? :)
I didn't know you took any of these pictures on Sunday but they're great. Especially the Peace Rose!
