Showed our house - AGAIN.

When we were working on the siding last week, my BIL saw a guy drive up to the neighbor and ask where our street was. She told him he was on it, then he asked where the house for sale was - we took it off the market a couple of weeks ago, so there’s no sign. But his brother had driven by it - BEFORE the siding job, apparently - and told him he should come and look at it. She pointed him our way, he drove by, went home and called our old realtor and asked her if she could arrange it so that he could still see it.

She called me yesterday, and we worked it out so that it will be listed for just 24 hours, and they came and looked at it at noon. He asked about the price now, knowing that we had made the improvements. I told her to tell him that we’ll sell it to him at the old price, but as soon as we’re done with the renovations, we’re raising the price. She said she'd call with feedback, but so far, nada. She's rather flighty, but we were willing to try. At least the house is nice and clean now!

The shutters are awaiting their final coat and the underpinning is about 75% painted. The columns still need painted and there's some areas on the window that I want to touch up. The kitchen vent in the back still needs to be painted tan, and I want to stain the support boards around our brick sidewalk and porch. Also, we need to get some mulch and plants to go in the trampled flower beds. But it already looks phenomenally better. My camera is not working now and I've yet to talk Chris into a new one, so I can't post any pics for you of our progress.

But let me take this chance to send a shout out to my mom and dad. My dad worked his fingers to the bone over the last two weeks, spending every single free minute over here working on our house. He's amazing - he worked circles around me and Chris and he's as steady on his feet as a mountain goat. My mom was also over here every evening keeping an eye on the kids so I could help too. There is no way on earth Chris and I could have done this job without them, so THANK YOU!!!!! Thanks to Chris's dad too, who came over and helped a day or two. He was a big help too!

I'm off to go check on Izzy and Maddie now - they're having a slumber party. It's probably been a year and a half since Maddie has stayed with us, but before Izzy, she stayed all the time. When he was a baby, though, we didn't want him to wake her at night, then he just never slept well until Sophie was born, then we didn't want Sophie to wake her...but now they both generally sleep well, so Maddie is back! We've had a great time tonight, even though I've got an icky chest cold. She's a great kid. Wish us luck!
