Lunchtime!

Every day, the second his feet cross the threshold of our house, Izzy starts asking for lunch. He runs up the steps and as I unload backpacks, he's setting out whatever he wants for lunch - generally PB&J.

Yesterday, however, he spied a pack of bologna, a rare and favorite treat of his and Sophie's. I sat down at the table in front of the pack of bologna and the loaf of wheat bread, and I pulled out a slice of bread, and then put a slice of bologna on top of that.

As I started to put the other piece of bread on top, Izzy says with a big smile and devilish eyes, "Hey mom, you know what's better than one piece of bologna? TWO pieces of bologna!" He got them.

So today he runs in and pulls open the fridge and while looking for the bologna, he dumps out the leftover container of mushroom alfredo from last night. He disgustedly comes to me and says, "Mom, I have something yucky on my hands."

I go to see what happened, and there's white goo all over the floor, goo which I can't immediately identify.

"What happened? What is this?," I asked Izzy when he comes back from washing his hands.

"Well, I opened the fridge and I was looking for the bologna, and that fell out, and I thought, 'Crap, where is the bologna??' and I made that mess."

I gave him the lecture about how crap isn't a nice word for little kids to say, but the message might have been lost in my giggles.

Good laugh before I leave to go to the dr. I can hear him saying that.
