Live from the Artic Circle

We had our first snow up here today. It's not a ton, I guess, maybe 3 or 4 inches, but it's way more than we ever saw at our old house. It's beautiful.

I'm predicting ice-skating later on this winter:

The kids had a BLAST. They made snow-angels, threw snowballs at each other (and Izzy threw a few at his own face) and we attempted to make a snow-man, but I got sick bending over and had to stop. But that was cool with Izzy, because then he could smash the big pile of snow.

We came in for the promised hot chocolate and it occurred to me that I didn't have anything with which to make hot chocolate. So I took an Choxie Espresso Truffle Dark Chocolate Bar that we got for free a while back, and I started melting it. Then I remembered we didn't have any milk. But we did have a small bottle of Boiled Custard waiting to be opened if we ever get around to decorating our beautiful tree, so I swallowed hard and poured it in. What I made was the most unhealthy and MOST DELICIOUS HOT CHOCOLATE IN THE WORLD. I couldn't find our bag of mini-marshmallows, but my sister had sent some for her sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving that we ended up not making, so I used them today. I'm pretty sure she would have been thrilled that we'd used them if she had been able to see this:

Yep, there's a marshmallow stuck to the side of her mouth. And yes, her hand is indeed stuck in her cup. But it was all worth it when I asked Izzy if it was good and he sat down his cup, sprung into my arms with a gigantic smile and said, "Mom, you're the best hot coffee maker in the world!"

It's been a good day!
