As soon as I get out of the shower, Izzy comes to me and asks me if I can help him find fancy clothes so he'll look nice for all the boys and all of the girls. School was cancelled due to snow today, so I told him that he wouldn't be seeing anyone today, to just wear anything. It's only 10 degrees today, too, so we're not going out either.
Sophie then pulls my hand and motions me to her room where she demands a dress. I take it off and hand it to her. It's not particularly fancy or anything, and she'll likely outgrow it before she gets to wear it this summer.
Izzy then comes in her room where I'm working on getting both of Sophie's arms through the appropriate holes and asks for his fancy jacket. His suit from last Christmas has a velvet jacket with it that he loves - he wears it to school every chance he gets. I tell him no, and he's not allowed to wear it today, just like I'm not letting Sophie wear the pantyhose that she's now screaming about either.
He wanders off to my room and finds the jacket, and happily dances back into Sophie's room where I'm opening the curtains.
"Look what I found mom" he exclaims in delight.
"Izzy, I told you I don't want you wearing that today," I say.
"But mom, I want to be a buttman," he pleads.
"A what??"
"A buttman."
"Exactly what is a buttman?," I ask, thinking that surely I'm missing something here.
"You know, someone who's your service!"
"Oh," I say to him, very, very relieved, "You mean a butler, and a servant."
"Yeah," he say, "A butler. I just saw one on the Backyardigans. They get you everything you want."
"Okay, then. You can wear the jacket!"
