Sophie's First Day of School!

Today my sweet little Sophie ventured off into Pre-Kindergarten, and after much begging, we let her ride the bus too. She did great, with no crying at all!

Me and Suzi? Well I, at least, didn't let Sophie see me!!

This is her waiting in the car for the bus to show up. She started getting a little bit nervous, but calmed down when Izzy told her, "You don't have to worry about anything with me there. I'll be your protector."

Then when the bus got near, he took his sister's hand and walked her up to the stop. As the other kids walked up, he introduced her to all of them, then when the bus stopped, he pushed her in front of him and helped her up the steps (although she didn't actually need the help!) and he walked with her back through the bus until he found a seat for them to both sit in.

When I picked her up from school, she told me EVERYTHING was boring. I kept asking questions and getting very little back from her in response. Then this afternoon I asked her what happened when she had to go to the bathroom. She told me she just went by herself.

"All by yourself?! Did you remember where it was?" I asked her.

"Yes, well, not really, so I just went to the boy's bathroom."

"You went to the boy's bathroom?? Were there any boys in there??"

"Just a few," she said, "They didn't make me nervous."

At this point, I am FREAKING out. I have reservations about sending her to a preschool within a real school anyways, and to hear that she went wandering around school unsupervised on her first day...!!!!

"Well," she said, "Izzy was in there too."

"Izzy was in there?" I ask her, as the truth starts dawning on me.

"Uh huh!" she says.

"No, he was not," I say to her. "You are lying. Did someone go with you, or did the teacher take you all as a group?"

"Oh yeah," she says, "I forgot. The teacher took us all as a group." Then she smiled an evil little smile up at me.

It's going to be a long school year.
