Missing Izzy.

This morning, just as I do every week day morning, I turned down mom's little dead end street, pulled into the drive, and threw the gear shift into park. I turned my head back over my right shoulder and caught Izzy's eye and we smiled at at other.

I got out of the van and ran around to the side of the van, and I push the door open to see Izzy smiling from ear to ear. He loves to watch me as I make my way around the van to him. I reached up to undo the buckles on his car seat, and he put his hands over it to keep me from unbuckling him. My sister thought maybe he just wanted to go for a longer car ride, but when I told Chris what happened, his first response was, "Moments like these break a mother's heart, don't they?" I agreed with him.

I think Izzy just didn't want me to leave him, AGAIN, just I like I leave him every day. Some days he'll wave at me and throw me a kiss, some days he'll cry and whine. But the hardest are days like this, when he just looks at me sadly and watches me leave.

Hey Cindy! Christy here. I love reading your blog because I get to learn about all the great things I have to look forward to. You are such a great mom! As far as your previous postings, I had no idea your job entailed so much! It sounds like you're a very valuable employee and they're taking you for granted. On another note, I think the United States could learn something from Canada when it comes to maternity leave. Mothers in Canada get 6 months to a year paid maternity leave and apparently paternity leave is being considered as well. Now I wouldn't complain with that! Just think, if that were the case you would have returned to work just a few months ago!

Can you imagine?? If I had that much time off, I would be in such a better frame of mind right now. In Sweden, mothers get paid $35,000 to stay home with their children that first year. I don't even get a day's materinity leave - I have to save up my sick leave and vacation to take after the baby. We could learn a lot from you Canadians!! :-)
