At 12:30 a.m. last night Sophie got up to nurse. As I was nursing her, she had a bit of diarrhea. I felt so bad for her for she smiled and cooed at me the whole time I was changing her when I know she wasn't feeling well. I finish nursing her and she goes right back to bed for me.
At about 3:30, Chris wakes me up. He acted like he was just putting his arm around me, but since that normally doesn't wake me, I'm willing to be that I was snoring. Because I've got a cold that has my head and lungs acting all cloggy. Shortly thereafter Izzy cries out a few times. I sit part of the way up to go calm him down when he stops crying. I listen for a minute or two to make sure, but maybe I sat there longer because Chris said quite irritably, "What is it?!" We go back to sleep.
Sophie starts crying at 5:30. I go get her and we curl back up together in my bed and for once she settles back down fairly quickly. At 5:50 I hear her start making retching noises, which she has never done. I grab her by her midriff and hang her head over the edge of the bed and she starts throwing up. I flip on the light and she keeps throwing up, heave after heave. Then she sits up and curls her head up on my chest. She's clearly feeling terrible, but I have to clean up the mess.
Carrying her, I get paper towels and Lysol wipes and clean up the floor. Her green beans from lunch were still there. They were leftovers and now I'm afraid they were too old. Poor baby! As I get ready to carry the dirty paper towels to the kitchen trash, I see what I first think is dog poop on my bedroom rug. With a deep sigh I trudge in for more paper towels. But it's not poop, just cat puke. So I clean it up as well and as I'm walking to put these towels in the trash I go through the utility room and see two more spots where he puked. Apparently, Chris did not see any of these this morning. I get these cleaned up as well, clean my hands up really well and we go to lay back down.
At 6:15 I get back up to feed the dogs, for Deltie's stomach is making such loud and horrendous noises that I can't get back to sleep. Go back to bed and Sophie again settles down nicely which is very rare for her.
About two hours later, Izzy comes and crawls in bed with us. We look for the remote but can't find it, so I get up and turn to cartoons for him. Sophie is still sleeping, so I curl back up with her, one arm around Izzy and doze back off. Izzy goes and gets a little bottle of orange juice, so I open it for him and make sure he's sitting up to drink it, so it doesn't spill all over the bed.
At 9:20 there is the sound of a very large diesel truck outside. The dogs go nuts, and I get up to look out the window, waking Sophie up in the process. It's the gas guys. I called about smelling gas last week and I apparently found a leak for them and now the road in front of my house is closed while they tear up the neighbor's yard fixing things. I think they may have dug in my yard too, because our For Sale sign is laying down. Meh, who cares.
I grab the kids and head to the shower because I figure they may want to ask me questions, or maybe will want us to leave. Izzy runs off and has to poop, then while Sophie and I are waiting, she has more diarrhea and it just acting miserable. I get both of them clean enough to get in the shower, then once we're all clean and shiny I sat down to nurse Sophie.
She's falling back asleep, so I go to put her back in her bed and there's pounding on the door. I lay her down, grab my robe, discover another spot of cat puke, run up the hall, where I see MORE cat puke in Izzy's room, then I get to the door, where there is ever MORE cat puke!!! Give me a break - six places??? I so deserve flowers or diamonds or something when Chris gets home tonight.
Anyhow, I open the door and peek out, mortified to be in my robe with my wet hair flying all over the place. Guy just needs help identifying addresses. I apologize for my appearance, of course, but I'm sure he's seen worse. I hope.
There is now a massive pile of dirt outside my living room window - I'm going to take a picture for you!! I'll be right back....

They're now tearing up the road too!! Woo-hoo!!! That means that not only is there going to be a hellacious amount of noise all day today, but there will be when they fix the road too! I am a lucky woman. If you look closely at that picture, at the far right you'll see the little bastard that puked all over my house last night, too.
Seriously, Chris, bring me home something nice, m'kay?
