I wish I could better enjoy these last couple of weeks I have with just Izzy and me. I think his life will be a lot better when his little sister is old enough to play with, but he's in for quite a shock for the next few months. When he doesn't have my undivided attention now, such as when I'm on the phone, he starts screaming or gets into stuff. It's going to be a big adjustment for all us.
This morning he woke up slowly. He was stretched out along my back, with his feet tucked under me. He had been wiggling around for about 10 or 15 minutes, so I rolled over to look at him, and he smiled such a beautiful smile at me. Then he said, "Tee vee?" He likes to watch cartoons for a while when we first wake up, and I like to lay there dozing off and on for a while longer, so it works out great for both of us.
"What's the first thing we do?" I ask him. "Want to go pee-pee?" He shook his head no, so I went on without him. He waits a minute or so, then he comes in and puts his little seat up on the big potty and pee-pees. That's the fourth or fifth morning in a row that we've made it to the bathroom for the first pee of the day! For Izzy, that is. My record is a little better.
Then we go back in the bedroom and I lay down, scooting over to the middle. I ask him if he wants to lay down and watch cartoons, and he nods yes, then climbs up beside me. He stretches out, pulls the blankets up over his feet and snuggles into my arms. As I'm laying there, nuzzling the top of his sweet little head, it hit me that we probably only have a week or so left of mornings like this. I'm excited to meet this new baby and anxious to get this pregnancy over with, but I'm sure going to miss our lazy quiet times.
