It's barely 7:45 a.m.

Last night, Sophie got up in the middle of the night. We'd had a solid week of her sleeping through the night, and I guess she decided that was enough.

It was about 2 am and I still hadn't settled down quite yet, so when she yelled, I threw my leg over the side of the bed to get up and lightly kicked her right in the head. She rubbed her head, but didn't scream, and I scooped her up and took her to the bathroom. After that, she ran down the hall and straight back into our room.

I ran behind her and grabbed her up again and she shreiked. I tried to muffle her screaming with my shoulder as I carried her back to her own room.

I stopped in front of her new big-girl bed and I said, "Where do big girls sleep?"

She lifted her head off my shoulder and between sobs said, "In Daddy's bed!" Then she yelled for my mom, and was most unhappy when I reminded her that MaMa had gone home.

I tucked her back in and put her giant lion beside her and I didn't hear another peep out of her until she screeched, "More dada!," as Chris was trying to rush out the door this morning to go buy Izzy an apple he needs for school today.

I wrestled her away and she sat there grumpily with me as Chris got away. "MaMa sleep?" she asked hopefully as she pointed to the sunroom. Again, I reminded her that mom had already left.

We came in the kitchen and as I cooked her breakfast she asked, "I go school today?" Yep, I told her. "Oh," she said excitedly, "I need my backpack!"

Just now she brought me the extra van key Chris left for me and as I tried to take it from her she said, "No, my turn," and smiled up at me, flashing those big green eyes. She ran across the room and ran back and said, "Where MaMa?"

"AT HOME," I told her her.

She grabbed my arm and said, "Let's go see MaMa!" As she was pulling my arm and whining, she hit her leg on the couch:

"OUCH! Oh my boo-boo! I need band-aid now, I need band-aid now, I need band-aid now."

I think I just hit that magical point where you realize that hoping for lots of talking from your baby was really just a little bit goofy.
